My Story
Some of my favorite moments happen with a length of fabric spread across the cutting table, a cup of coffee nearby, and history waiting to be stitched back to life.
I've always been drawn to clothing from another era—not simply because it's beautiful, but because every carefully placed seam, hand-finished detail, and graceful silhouette tells a story. These garments were made to last. They reflected patience, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the art of making something well.
That love of historical dress eventually became Sew Vintagely.
Years ago, my Lady Katherine Regency gown pattern introduced many sewists to Sew Vintagely. Seeing makers around the world create their own versions of that design reminded me that sewing is about more than following a pattern. It's about learning new skills, slowing down, and creating something that can be treasured for years.
Today, Sew Vintagely has returned with a renewed focus on historically inspired digital sewing patterns.
Each design begins with research into authentic historical garments and period construction techniques. I study original clothing, historical illustrations, and surviving examples to understand not only how these garments looked, but how they were made. From there, I thoughtfully adapt those details into patterns that are enjoyable to sew and practical for today's makers.
My goal isn't to create museum replicas.
It's to create patterns that capture the beauty and spirit of historical clothing while remaining approachable, wearable, and rewarding to make.
Whether you're sewing your very first Regency gown or adding another historical project to your wardrobe, I want every pattern to teach something new and leave you with a garment you're genuinely proud of.
In a world that moves faster every day, sewing invites us to slow down. It asks us to be present, to solve problems with our hands, and to appreciate the value of thoughtful craftsmanship.
That's the heart of Sew Vintagely.
Thank you for being here. Whether you've been with me since Lady Katherine or you've only just discovered Sew Vintagely, I'm honored to be a small part of your sewing journey.
Let's bring history back to life—one stitch at a time.
