Sizes 20 – 30
For the confident beginner

Regency dress pattern, Lady Katherine, was drafted from an extant dress. The pattern shapes are replicas of the pieces that make up the original early 19th century dress. If you are dreaming of being Jane or Daphne, this pattern is for you! Bring your inner Jane Austen to life or create a fantastical Bridgerton costume.

Lady Katherine is available printed on paper or as a downloadable PDF that you can print at home.

The printed pattern is printed on lightweight bond paper. Sizes are nested. The PDF is layered so you can choose which size to print.

Sizes 20 – 30 are included in both the printed pattern and the downloadable PDF. Sizes 0 – 18 are available here.

Your PDF files will be available to download immediately after purchase and will include tiled PDFs for at-home printing. Our pattern is a layered PDF, which means you can select one size to print. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to be able to open the files and print them. If you create a Sew Vintagely account, you will be able to access your downloads any time when you log in to your account.

You will love the versatility of this pattern.  Lady Katherine is perfect for historical accuracy enthusiasts. The extant dress is silk velvet and dates to about 1805. You can see pictures of the extant dress here on our blog.  But this pattern is also a beginner-friendly regency dress pattern and lends itself well to history bounding. It can be your blank canvas, ready to be adorned with embroidery or other embellishments.

There are 3 views to choose from, with or without a train.

View A is almost an exact replica of the original dress and is intended to be sewn with velvet; although, you can use other fabrics. The skirt has triangular gores that attach at various distances from the waist. The skirt has a train. The sleeves and the back of the skirt are pleated.

View B uses gathers instead of pleats. There is one skirt gore that begins at the waist. It also has a train.

View C is a beginner friendly pattern with only three pieces for the skirt, and no train.

The fit of the bodice is adjusted with a drawstring in the front, and the dress fastens in the back with ties at the neckline and waist. The bodice for all views is correct to the period and has not been modified for a modern fit. It is low and wide. Be prepared to show some cleavage! The Empire waist is fitted at the under bust and the skirt is loose at the natural waist and hips. The skirt is straight and columnar in the front. It is full in the back with pleats or gathers.
